Kadare Night
Altin Gjoni
Altin Gjoni is an Albanian guitarist whose playing forms the instrumental backbone of the ffusion project. Born and raised in Tirana, he brings a rare dual fluency, deeply rooted in Albanian musical tradition, while equally at home in the ambient and progressive rock idioms that define the ffusion sound.
Where many guitarists might impose familiar Western harmonic frameworks onto the ancient nature of isopolyphonic music, the lines Altin adds to the arrangements, the atmospheric swells, edge-of-breakup arpeggios, and touches of lead guitar allow the vocals of Thesaret Labe to breathe within a contemporary sonic landscape.
His contribution to the project is not only musical. It was through his connections that Altin first linked the ffusion project with Thesaret Labe, bringing together two musical worlds that might otherwise never have met and making the collaboration at the heart of this project possible. He also tied the project to his own world music initiative, folk rocks, performing alongside me and thesaret label the album on stage in Tirana.
Beyond the Ffusion project, Altin has a career performing and recording internationally, representing Albania at the Eurovision National Finals as a songwriter, producer, and guitarist, releasing music as a solo artist on UK label 1043 Recordings, and serving as the musical director for folk and world music events such as Kadare Night.
